When I started this blog, it was with the intention of writing about my transition from being a city girl to living the life on a farm. The blog came about a few months before the big move, and well, I got married. So, this may have taken a bit of a left turn and "Farmer in a Pink Tutu" probably made absolutely no sense, but now we are all moved in and making all kinds of plans.
A couple of months ago, my husband and I moved away from Atlanta and onto 20 acres of land, which is all ours. We will be updating the house and turning the land into a working farm, with livestock and a year-round garden. It'll be a fun and exciting - and I am sure frustrating - ride, and I will be documenting each step of the process.

Some of our next door neighbors! |
Not that I won't blog about other topics every now and then because as much as I would like to get everything done and started right away, lets be realistic. We have a lot of work - and learning - to do and all this will take time and money, so the updates on our progress will be an ongoing process.
Our new house may not be the most impressive or have the latest updates but it has plenty of history and character. My husband's grandparents actually owned the house and land and it came fully stocked with furniture and other various things. We have had fun coming across a lot of old items, which is quite the treat for a treasure hunter like myself, but it's been a challenge with what to do with everything.

The house was originally built in the 1920s with additions made later. |

The front room - needs new furniture and a paint job. |

And the back porch |
And of course all the land. We'll be updating a couple of current structures - the storage trailer, which will be converted into a workshop and the tractor shed, which will be replaced with an actual barn. We want this farm to include free range chickens, some turkeys, a couple of goats and sheep, maybe some pigs, all along with a dog and a couple of cats. There will also be a large, year-round garden and I am hoping to complete a large, walkable flower garden (this one could get interesting).

Our land! |

The storage shed which will be completed renovated as a workshop for my husband. Right now a real eye sore but full of amazing treasures. |
|
Tractor barn. Will be torn down with a barn put up. |
|
We now own a tractor! |
|
This was once a playhouse. Will be restored and made into a garden shed. |

Future garden |
So, over time, I will be sharing our progress with the house and the farm, and we'll see how this city girl adapts to a whole new way of life.
